Birds

We understand the special relationship that people have with their pet birds, whether a budgerigar or a macaw.  At Radnor Veterinary Hospital, we strive to work with you and your feathered companion to assure that you have a long, happy, healthy relationship!

Our practice owner, Dr. Len Donato, has had a strong interest in treating birds since his first days in veterinary school. During vet school, he was very active in U of Penn Vet's Wildlife Service, and his interest in birds, wildlife and non-traditional pets has just grown stronger since.  Dr. Donato is an active member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians and attends their conferences yearly to keep current on the latest knowledge and techniques.  He has also lectured at several of the conferences. Dr. Donato has a lot of experience with birds and he realizes that no mere mortal can know everything there is to know. For this reason, he doesn't hesitate to consult other veterinarians or to refer cases that need advanced care or diagnostics to the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

In addition to Dr. Donato, our technicians also take an active interest in caring for birds. Several members of our team have their own birds and our staff has lots of experience handling and caring for birds of all types. You can feel confident that your bird is receiving high-quality care when you bring him/her to Radnor Vet!
